Director of Capital Markets

Oversee CRC’s multifamily and retail financing activities including all refinance and acquisition activities. An ideal candidate for this role will have creative, thoughtful, and real-time market insights to assist the Acquisitions team as they underwrite opportunities. The Director of Capital Markets will be responsible for constant monitoring of transaction activity in the marketplace to identify new products, new lenders, and notable trends in the debt markets that will be meaningful to CRC’s investment strategy. In a typical year, this role will be responsible for originating anywhere from 12 to 20 mortgages on individual investments and could be charged with researching and originating other debt facilities not specific to a single asset.

CRC is a 60+ year-old company with a best-in-class reputation as investors and operators. In recent years, the organization has grown considerably and currently owns roughly 10,000 units and six million square feet of retail. CRC is hyper focused smart and strategic growth.  Since 2019, CRC has acquired 1,700 units and 2 million SF of retail, with visibility to an additional 1.5 million SF of retail acquisitions in Q1 and Q2 of 2022. 


The Director of Capital markets will be a highly relationship-oriented role. They will serve as the primary representative for CRC among capital markets brokers, banks, and other lending institutions. Strong execution of transactions will be critical, but forming strategic long-term relationships to help facilitate the organization’s growth goals is also a top priority. There will be considerable outreach and networking requirements within each of the major markets where CRC does business.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee origination of all financing activities, including new acquisitions and refinances across CRC’s multifamily and retail portfolio
  • Help lead portfolio-level debt strategy efforts with creative structures that enable strategic growth and enhance the investment thesis of each deal
  • Build upon CRC’s existing lending relationships, bringing new relationships through deep market knowledge and active outreach 
  • Demonstrate and promote interdepartmental collaboration. The role will work closely with Retail and Multifamily Acquisitions teams as well as Asset Management on refinance strategies. 
  • Provide regular reporting to the Acquisitions, Asset Management and the Executive Team on market conditions and transaction activities
  • Negotiate loan documents and oversee all related transaction activities to ensure smooth and timely loan closing
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in capital markets and debt origination
  • Knowledge of the capital markets, with existing relationships with lenders
  • Advanced financial modeling skills
  • Autonomous, self-motivated and relationship oriented
  • Strategic and driven – taking initiative and setting ambitious goals for themselves
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills – there will be considerable requirements for internal and written communications
