Commute & Transportation Services Manager

Job Summary

The Commute and Transportation Services Manager oversees commute and transportation programs. The Commute and Transportations team promotes and encourages the reduction of single occupancy vehicles (SOV) to include public or employee transit, carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, and other transportation options, and establishes operating and administrative policies and procedures for all transportation activities.

The individual in this role manages staff and creates their work schedules, in addition to providing team training and supervising employee outreach, commute incentives and parking management. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the Commute and Transportation team adheres to approved budgets and reaches financial goals, as well as developing plans for keeping the department on track in terms of available technology and equipment maintenance.

The Commute and Transportation Services Manager also acts as a liaison with business leaders and members of other departments to achieve goals and resolve conflicts. This individual also oversees transportation delivery for on-site events and collects vital data to better implement new commute, transportation, and parking programs.

Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

Manages staff assigned to transportation services, including establishing work schedules, assigning tasks, cross-training staff to perform other duties as back-up, and evaluating and developing performance; works on transportation demand management policy issues; parking management, coordinates transportation fairs, employee outreach activities, and commute incentives.

Works with members of local city and state transportation management associations to promote commute options programs.

Ensures that department savings goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.

Develops operating plans and cost estimates for personnel, equipment, vehicles, services, and supplies.

Develops short and long range plans to upgrade automation, technology and equipment and maintain state-of-the-art operations.

Plans, coordinates, schedules, and reviews transportation schedules; Develops training methods for efficient and safe use of equipment and vehicles

Manage existing web tools including updates and reporting for: Commute Intranet website, Ride matching; Guaranteed Ride Home; Taxi Vouchers; Lockers; Etc.

Acts as liaison with business leaders, department managers and other internal and external clients to forecast workload demand, project deliverables and resolve any conflicting priorities.

Develop, plan, coordinate and deliver transportation on-site events and/or other events and specialized outreach to client employees.

Manage distribution of transportation passes, Carpool Permits, Bus schedules.

Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting department deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to co-workers, supervisor, department and/or line of business.

  • Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE related requirements at all times
  • Participate in all HSE related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing, and assessment, etc.
  • Report any condition which you feel could result in an accident or injury and / or stop work if required

As a Manager

While adhering to all HSE requirements established for CBRE employees, supervisors and managers are required to:

  • Provide sufficient distraction free time for employees to complete all required HSE training & support the HSE training program implicitly
  • Investigate and resolve (if possible) all reported unsafe conditions / acts and communicate results back to the affected stakeholders
  • Support stop work authority when it is exercised in good faith
  • Communicate any / all potential workplace hazards and workplace procedures

Qualifications

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 years of experience in commute & transportation services required. Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Transportation Management or Urban Planning Preferred. Experience and understanding of local transportation laws and regulations preferred.

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Excellent driving skills. Good organization and time management skills. Ability to read and interpret road maps. May need to use GPS or other directional device. Ability to work handheld mobile technologies and applications.

Knowledge of transportation demand management concepts and strategies.

Good organizational skills.

Must work well under pressure with multiple deadlines and demonstrate a proactive approach to routine and non-routine occurrences.

Ability to work flexible work schedules based on business need.

May need to be physically able to lift and move 30-40 boxes and operate a two-wheel dolly.

Ability to lead and motivate others and to perform associated paperwork.
