Community Development Corporation

CKAR has worked with small businesses (primarily businesses owned by women, people of color, and immigrants) since the pandemic to purchase meals and provide them to residents facing hunger. These meals are culturally responsive (halal, vegetarian, and familiar to families), and distributed at schools, churches, and apartment complexes.

CKAR has worked closely with Route 1 Communities Care (ROCC), a volunteer organization of neighborhood residents from University Park, College Park, and Hyattsville, to serve more than 26,000 meals during the past two and one-half years. Together, we plan to continue meal distribution for as long as funding is available.
