Assistant Historic Preservation Manager

This position is located within the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), Office of Federal Agency Programs.

At the full performance level GG-9 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Developing and maintaining working relationships with consulting parties in the Section 106 process;
2. Participating in public meetings, often involving diverse consulting parties interested in the outcome of complex projects;
3. Providing technical advice and assistance to federal and state agencies and the public in the interpretation and application and requirements of Section 106; and
4. Preparing written responses to inquiries regarding the status of federal project activities.

The ACHP has determined that the duties of this position are telework eligible.

Salary Information
GG-9 ($59,534 - $77,396 per annum). First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying or (2) meet requirements for qualifying education in lieu of specialized experience. .

(1) Specialized Experience

To qualify for the GG-9, you must possess at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-7 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience performing historic preservation reviews under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

(2) Qualifying Education in Lieu of Specialized Experience

In the absence of specialized experience, candidates may possess the following education/degrees in order to qualify for the GG-9:

A. master's or equivalent graduate degree; or

B. 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or

C. LL.B. or J.D., if related.
