Terracon’s cultural resources management services are part of the Environmental Planning Practice Group and focus on compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), as well as applicable state and local regulations. This position involves desktop/ literature reviews, field surveys, evaluations of historic resources for their eligibility for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and facilitation of consultation with State Historic Preservation Officers (SHPOs) and project stakeholders. As a national firm, you will have the opportunity to work on projects across the United States, with a focus on transportation, telecommunications, federal agency, and power generation regulatory compliance projects.

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team including archaeologists, architectural historians, historians, historic preservationists, conservationists, environmental scientists and engineers and geotechnical professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Field survey of historic resources (digital photography and survey forms).
  • Evaluation of historic properties for NRHP eligibility.
  • Facilitate consultations with federal agencies, state agencies, possibly tribal groups, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform archival and historical research to support NRHP eligibility recommendations.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report safety challenges or concerns to management.
  • Contribute to business development through preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications, presentations to clients, and active engagement in professional networking activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years’ related experience.
  • Certification in field of expertise.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory framework for architectural evaluation of standing structures.
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s qualifications as a Principal Investigator (PI) for Architectural History and Finally, you will be expected to
  • Proficient in the use of ArcGIS, Survey123, and Field Maps
  • Proficient in digital photography
  • Strong technical writing capabilities, be able to write at a professional level, and present ideas in a well-thought-out and comprehensive manner.

 

Preferred requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Historic Preservation
  • Five to ten years professional experience in regulatory compliance
