Architect Project Manager

The project manager executes service requests and renovation projects to improve research laboratory and office workplace environments as a member of the OIM Space + Design Branch (SDB). The OIM SDB acts as internal owner’s representatives in support of the NHLBI. SDB maintains an extensive, multi-user database of all NHLBI space, coordinates day to day workplace needs through service requests, and manages renovation projects varying $50K-$5M in scale.

This full-time, contract position is located on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland, which is bus/bicycle/Metro (Red Line: Medical Center) accessible.

Compensation

Up to $95,000 / year based on experience and/or education

We provide world-class support to world-class scientists and clinicians investigating such critical areas as pulmonary functionality, aplastic anemia disease, and cell biology, and we're looking for a dynamic team member with a proactive approach to support the day-to-day processes within the OIM Space + Design Branch.

You will work with renowned scientific, clinical, and administrative staff to translate their workplace needs into architectural solutions. Project types range from biomedical research laboratories, hospital clinics and commercial offices. We need someone who thrives with autonomy, seeks information resourcefully, and implements projects seamlessly. To do so, you’ll:

  • Manage & execute service requests such as scientific equipment installations, furniture installations/reconfigurations, personnel relocations, laboratory casework modifications, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing trade coordination
  • Works closely with Senior Project Manager to develop programs of requirement for new renovation projects >$250K
  • Independently manages large scale laboratory/office moves
  • Independently manages small-mid scale renovations <$250K, i.e., laboratory modifications, furniture layout and installation and office renovations
  • Conducts project close out reviews to reflect on current processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Contributes to team meetings and collaborative branch improvement efforts
  • Initiates, coordinates, and implements special Division programs and projects

 

Necessary Skills/Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in architecture, interior design, engineer, or a related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in architecture, construction, engineering, or planning industries
  • Dynamic personality with a high level of interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively and persuasively with all levels of an organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, and the ability to apply other project management tools
  • Exposure to writing scopes of work, estimating costs, developing programs of requirement, reviewing construction documents for compliance, and managing schedules
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize complex tasks
  • Ability to manage and simultaneously coordinate high-priority short and long-term projects
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience with assembly of concept and construction drawings
  • Preferred experience with BIM and CAD
