Architect (Historic Architect)

This position is for an Architect located in Mount Rainier National Park, in the Maintenance Division.

You will work with the park's landscape architect, engineer, project managers, resource specialists, and compliance team to complete projects in a demanding landscape, and protect resources to ensure continued public access for future generations.

Responsible for the identification, research, planning, treatment, and preservation maintenance of historic and prehistoric structures. Performs architectural duties associated with review, design, treatment, and monitoring of historic and prehistoric structures. The structures are diverse in design, materials, and composition and may exist in diverse climatic, geographic, and environmental conditions.

Qualifications
  1. Must possess a Bachelors of Architecture degree with at least one year of graduate study in Architectural Preservation, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, Historic Preservation Planning, or a closely related field (see Education: Academic Background for Historic Architecture), PLUS a minimum of two (2) years of full-time professional experience applying the theories, methods and practices of Historic Architecture that enables professional judgments to be made about the evaluation, documentation, or treatment of historic structures in the United States and its Territories; AND products and activities that demonstrate the successful application of acquired proficiencies in the discipline to the practice of historic preservation. NOTE: You must submit transcripts with your application if using education to qualify. -OR-
  2. Must possess a Masters of Architecture degree with demonstrable course work in Architectural Preservation, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, Historic Preservation Planning, or a closely related field (see Education: Academic Background for Historic Architecture), PLUS a minimum of two (2) years of full-time professional experience applying the theories, methods, and practices of Historic Architecture that enables professional judgments to be made about the evaluation, documentation, or treatment of historic structures in the United States and its Territories; AND products and activities that demonstrate the successful application of acquired proficiencies in the discipline to the practice of historic preservation. NOTE: You must submit transcripts with your application if using education to qualify. - OR-
  3. Must possess a State Government-recognized license to practice Architecture, PLUS a minimum of two (2) years of full-time professional experience applying the theories, methods, and practices of Architecture that enables professional judgments to be made about the evaluation, documentation, or treatment of historic structures in the United States and its Territories; AND products and activities that demonstrate the successful application of acquired proficiencies in the discipline to the practice of historic preservation.
