Archaeological Analyst

Monticello is seeking applications for an 18-month Archaeological Analyst position with The Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery (DAACS, www.daacs.org). The primary focus of this position is the identification, measurement, and analysis of artifacts from archaeological excavations in North America and the Caribbean using DAACS protocols and software. Additional tasks will include creating digital artifact images as well as training and supervising interns, fellows, volunteers, and students in laboratory procedures, early modern Atlantic material culture, and DAACS protocols. The appointment may be renewed, contingent of funding.

We seek candidates who hold a bachelor's or master's degree in anthropology or related discipline, with a concentration in archaeology, archaeology, as well as basic knowledge of the material culture of the early-modern Atlantic world, and a commitment to collaborative research and open science. A minimum of two years' experience in both archaeological field and laboratory research is preferred.
