Analyst, Capital Markets

Lerner is seeking a full-time Capital Markets Analyst to support the organization’s Acquisitions,  Development and Asset Management efforts, which includes underwriting and due diligence of potential acquisitions as well as financial analysis and reporting for the Lerner real estate portfolio. The  Analyst will work closely with the organization’s multiple business verticals, while reviewing and  analyzing opportunities across diverse investment strategies and asset types.  

A successful candidate must demonstrate the following qualities 

Strong organizational skills (managing deal flow, building databases, tracking deals, etc)

Effective management of priorities and processes to meet deadlines 

High attention to detail (memos, reports, financial analyses, etc) 

Self-starter with ability to manage and work through ambiguities 

A discipline to self-review and self-proof work products ahead of distribution

Strong verbal and written business communication skills 

Genuine interest in commercial real estate markets 

Ability to multi-task

Responsibilities

Potential Responsibilities 

Draft investment memos/offering memos for equity investors and debt lenders

Review and track investment opportunities 

Interface with brokers and maintain external relationships 

Underwrite potential acquisitions with a primary focus on multifamily, office and retail assets,  which includes all relevant research, due diligence, and financial analyses 

Build financial models and pro formas (from scratch) on an as-needed basis

Conduct financial reporting on office, retail, multifamily and hotel assets in the portfolio

Synthesize market research to support underwriting and investment efforts

Tour properties, which requires having transportation 

Perform other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate 

Relevant Experience: 0-2 years' experience in commercial real estate with preference for  private equity, investment sales, finance, and/or brokerage 

Conceptual Skills: Understanding of CRE development, acquisition and closing processes

Hard Skills: Strong Excel financial modeling, and Microsoft Office Suite; ARGUS is a plus

Soft Skills: interpersonal communications, managing relationships and networks, self-starter
