Pavilion Design

The Pavilion Design problem includes a reduction and simplification in the number and type of formal elements, often repeated, that led to a focus on threshold, space, spatial organization (enfilade), vistas, and movement. A limited set of parameters allows the student to concentrate on developing the narrative as it relates to the composition of spaces and sequence associated with those spaces.

This project challenges students to compose a series of spaces using a prescribed kit of parts to orchestrate an experience based on ONE or TWO of the following four themes: CEREMONY, RITUAL, CONTEMPLATION, DIALOGUE and TENSION.
