This project deals with the design of the vertical surface of a building in context. Students designed a new facade for an infill space in Dupont Circle (near the metro). The existing façade will be demolished and the new façade will replace the old and stark façade. Compositional concerns, as well as those of character, iconography, and symbolism were addressed. Issues of proportion, scale, light/shade/shadow, abstraction, representation and construction were examined throughout the design process.
