Disaster Risk Management for Cultural Resource Preservation

Malone examines the intersection of Historic Preservation and disaster preparedness and risk planning. The paper looks at multiple existing protocols and efforts including UNESCO, Japanese, North American, European, and Asian implementations with special study of sate and local US disaster risks practices. The paper looks at six case studies and presents tactics, lessons learned. In addition, Malone offers recommendations for facility managers, historic property owners, archivist, and artifact specialist for securing and protecting historic resources for disaster events.
