Water Quality Finance Planning for the Elizabeth River Project

The Elizabeth River Project (ERP) has secured funding through a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Innovative Nutrient and Sediment Reduction (INSR) grant to scale up the existing partnership for long-term sustainability, including sustainable regional leadership support and funding within the Elizabeth River watershed. The watershed includes the Cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach.

For this project, EFC will engage local decision makers and stakeholders in order to complete a stormwater financing feasibility study. The study will identify benefits and barriers to regional implementation, potential funding streams for water quality and resilience projects, and potential structures for regional collaboration in order to sustainably support local stormwater and flood mitigation priorities.
