Sustainable States Community Energy Challenge

The Sustainable States Community Energy Challenge (SSCEC), funded by the New York Community Trust, is a partnership of the Sustainable States Network, American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), the Great Plains Institute, Green Cities California, Sustainable CT, Sustainable Maryland, Minnesota GreenStep Cities, and Sustainable Jersey. The project offered a unique opportunity for municipalities to participate in peer cohorts with similar cities across five states as well as to receive one-on-one technical assistance from national experts on clean energy and climate policies and projects.

SSCEC provided technical assistance to peer cohorts in 40 cities to identify and implement clean energy and climate policies and projects related to climate planning, energy efficiency in buildings, and creating electric vehicle-ready communities. Specifically, EFC worked with project partners to host multi-state virtual workshops and supported eight Maryland-based communities in determining appropriate energy and climate projects and policies.
