Façade Design

This project dealt with the design of the vertical surface of a building in context. Students were asked to design a new façade for an infill space in Dupont Circle (near the metro). The current façade will be demolished and the new proposal will replace the old and stark façade. Compositional concerns, as well as those of character, iconography and symbolism will be addressed. Issues of proportion, scale, light/shade/shadow, abstraction, representation and construction will be studied.
