Urban Planning/Design Intern

Code Studio is looking for a part-time, paid intern for the Spring and Summer semesters to primarily assist with graphic production, including SketchUp modeling and GIS mapping. Founded in 2006, Code Studio works on plans and development and zoning codes that yield vibrant, mixed use, walkable communities through creative urban infill and redevelopment strategies. Headquartered in Austin, Texas with a new office in Atlanta, we are a consulting firm with projects in communities across the US.

Responsibilities

Work would involve supporting the production of our planning, zoning, and form-based code projects, and could involve the following tasks:

  • Creating diagrams in SketchUp and Adobe Illustrator
  • Modeling design scenarios and building types
  • Basic GIS analysis
  • Creating maps in GIS and Adobe Illustrator
  • Assisting in analyzing, organizing, and drafting code regulations
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Experience with:
    • Sketch-Up modeling
    • Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
  • ArcGIS Pro Other Skills:
    • Graphic visualization skills
    • Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Strong SketchUp and Adobe Illustrator skills are essential.
  • Experience in architecture, urban design, or city planning is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Interns will have a flexible schedule with the ability to work in-person or remotely, some in-person hours are preferred.
  • Availability for at least 10-15 hours per week during regular business hours (9am-6pm, Monday-Friday) is preferred
