Frank Schlesinger, FAIA

Frank Schlesinger, FAIA the founder and principal of Schlesinger Associates Architects, received a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. After graduating he worked at the offices of Hugh Stubbins, Marcel Breuer, and Louis Kahn before starting his own practice.

Over the years, he has always believed in the importance of the mutual supporting qualities to be found in combining practice with teaching. To that end throughout his career, in addition to practicing, he has been on the architectural faculties of the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University and the University of Maryland where he is presently Professor Emeritus.

In addition to having been inducted as a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects as one of it’s youngest recipients, other prestigious honors have included the Arthur Wheelwright Fellow in Architecture from Harvard University, the Kea Distinguished Professorship from the University of Maryland, the National Endowment for the Arts Distinguished Designer Fellowship and, most recently, the DC/AIA Chapter’s Centennial Award, “the highest honor the Chapter can bestow upon a member”.
