Biography

Andrew Bernish (M.C.P., University of Maryland, AICP / GISP) is a Planner & GIS Analyst for the Maryland State Department of Transportation (MDOT). Prior to joining MDOT, he worked in the private sector as an Associate Planner at Ayers Saint Gross. Andrew also worked on the Planning Secretary's Executive Response team at the Maryland Department of Planning during the O'Malley administration.

He holds a master's degree in Community Planning from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Andrew served in South Africa with the US Peace Corps in the Education and Community Resource Program.

Andrew serves as George Washington University’s Faculty Representative to the National Capital Area Chapter of the American Planning Association and is on the board for the Maryland Chapter of the American Planning Association.

He is a certified planner with the American Planning Association and is a certified geographic information systems professional (GISP).
