October summit announces call for submissions

The University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation will host the first-ever National Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit: National Dialogue, Local Impact, an annual event planned to spur creative solutions to community challenges—such as gentrification, environmental instability and threats to cultural assets—by fostering engagement with the arts and design. The year’s conference, which will take place October 5-7, 2018, will focus on creative placemaking and change, and will offer a range of tools and strategies for working with communities and stakeholders.

You may submit a proposal to present a workshop, panel discussion, short presentation or field workshop. Topics include: leveraging art and design as change agents; gentrification and displacement; public/private partnerships, zoning and policy; advancing equity, social and environmental justice; and leading community change. Proposal deadline is June 25, 2018.

Learn more and submit your proposal here.

The National Creative Placemaking Summit is co-produced by the National Consortium for Creative Placemakers, the National Endowment for the Arts, Artplace America and Art Works. It is sponsored by the Levitt Foundation, Art Works, Shelterforce, Metris Arts Consulting, CPG and the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation and the National Center for Smart Growth.
