Assistant Professor of Architecture Ming Hu has been selected by the Rockefeller Foundation for the prestigious Bellagio Center Academic Writing Residency Program. The residency recognizes and supports the ongoing work of leading academics, artists, researchers and scientists by providing a venue for focused, goal-oriented work and an opportunity to connect with fellow residents from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Ming will join an elite cohort of her peers for four weeks in 2019 in Bellagio, Italy, where she will continue work on a new book, titled Net Zero Building: The Predicted and Unintended Consequences.
Net Zero Building will comprise years of research by Ming on the benefits and imperfections of “net zero” buildings, and how the concept intersects with housing choice, shared resources and the shaping of urban/suburban communities.
Each year, the residency focuses on a common theme that frames the discussions for the cohort. This year’s topic will center around scientific development technology for humanity and will include discussions and presentations among the residents, which will coincide with and enhance their individual writing work.
