URSP graduate student Jonathan Katz has been selected as a 2021 Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program Finalist by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Katz was one of eight students selected from the University of Maryland, joining hundreds of other finalists from universities across the country.

"This is a terrific and much-deserved honor for Jonathan," said Casey Dawkins, director of the Urban Studies and Planning Program. "Jonathan is an incredible asset to the URSP community and this opportunity will no doubt allow him to continue amazing work in the field."

Created more than 30 years ago, PMF is a flagship leadership development program whose mission is to develop a cadre of potential government leaders and encourage the development of leadership skills in the spirit of public service. The two-year program provides finalists challenging work experiences, training and developmental assignments at one or more federal agencies, often leading to a permanent government position.

Katz follows in the footsteps of URSP graduate Russell Ottalini (MCP ’19), who was a 2020 finalist.v
