Suzane Reatig, FAIA: Practicing Architecture in the 21st Century

Suzane Reatig, FAIA, has developed innovative urban infill projects as principal of her firm for more than 25 years. Her experience has led to a unique philosophy on what it means to practice architecture in the 21st century.

In her lecture, Reatig will uncover the true meaning of sustainability, demonstrating how inventive construction methods and the creative use of materials results in longevity and energy efficiency. She will reveal her authentic approach to historic preservation, exhibiting ways modern architecture can both enhance and complement traditional styles. Finally, she will elaborate on the challenges and great rewards of architectural entrepreneurship and share tips on how effective leadership gives architects the power to build communities and create healthy environments.

Suzane Reatig, fellow of the American Institute of Architects, has received numerous national and international awards, and has been extensively discussed by her peers, the architectural community and press. She has been featured in publications such as the Washington Post, New York Times, and Architectural Record.

As a frequent lecturer, she often shares her vision with architects and students. In 2015 Reatig published her first book, A Clear View: How Glass Buildings in the Inner City Transformed a Neighborhood, participating in sold-out lectures at the National Building Museum and Politics & Prose bookstore.
