Robert Fishman, Interim Dean, Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan

Dr. Fishman is a professor of architecture and urban planning, teaching in the urban design, architecture and urban planning programs at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. He is a noted urban historian and has traced the story of the suburb from its origins in nineteenth-century London to its twentieth-century demise in decentralized cities, like Los Angeles, in books such as "Bourgeois Utopias: The Rise and Fall of Suburbia."  His lecture is an update on his latest research into the relationship between the city and the suburb.
