What students + other volunteer participants will do:

The objective of this project, Regenerate! Orchestra, is to foster placemaking and spark genuine human connection within the larger UMD-wide community through communal soundmaking. Regenerate! is a community orchestra that welcomes anyone wanting to participate, regardless of their musical training or UMD department affiliation. UMD community members who sign up will partake in workshops that feature conversations about mindful listening and sonic meditations, culminating in a site-specific performance.

During the performance, participants are dispersed around the Great Space space while audience members are invited to engage with and wander through the performance space. The performance will be informal, without a stage or dress code. Anyone who asks to join is given a part to play. For the participants who do not have formal music training, you will play “anybody” parts, parts that do not require someone to play an instrument or read music. These parts are often the most fun!

Two rehearsals will take place before March 26th, stay tuned for the RSVP form to sign up and information on exact date and location.
