Mark your calendars for a Creative Placemaking lunchtime talk with UMD alum Edgar Alvarado! Alvarado will share how his extensive travels served as a master class in culture and the arts. He will discuss how traveling is essential to refining one's design abilities so that one can later create meaningful places.

What is a “place?” Space is an ambiguous concept, but a place, on the other hand, is defined by the relationship between people and their built environment. In other words, a place is made from love and its people. Thus, If ones seeks to strengthen places and communities, it is imperative to develop a deeper understanding of people and culture.
