PARKING DAY

About

Park(ing) day is a global, public, participatory project launched in 2005. It is a day where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into parks and social spaces to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people. SPA will be repurposing two parking spaces located on campus to engage and educate UMD students on the climate crisis, with a specific focus on the causes and effects of urban heat islands and the role of planning in their creation and persistence. This event will promote the Urban Studies and Planning Program and introduce UMD students and community members to the roles that planning plays in our everyday lives.
