About the 120 Initiative

In June of 2022, the Presidents of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area supported a proposal to begin the work of the 120 Initiative. The collaborative project was named in honor of the more than 120 people who die on average each day from gun homicide or suicide. Since its launch, the Consortium has engaged more than 100 subject-matter experts across our 20-member institutions to identify practical and actionable approaches to reducing gun violence. The March 1st conference will review the resulting proposals, which the Consortium will publish earlier that week.

The information above was forwarded in an email from Jeffrey A. Dagley, Director of Strategic Initiatives & Assistant to the President at the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area.
