Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett has appointed Margaret McFarland, Director of UMD’s Colvin Institute for Real Estate Development, to the Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission [HOC], one of the leading affordable housing finance agencies in the US. She was sworn in October 30 at the County Court House, following in the footsteps of Ralph Bennett, who served in the position for 12 years.
“I hope to be able to contribute my experience and knowledge in affordable housing and real estate development to the benefit of low and moderate income citizens of the County,” said McFarland.
The HOC is a critical part of the progressive inclusionary housing policies that have been in place in Montgomery County for over 40 years. It is a leader in innovative housing finance and also acts as the administrator of the County’s public housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs funded by the federal government.
