MAPP Alumni: Share your work!

May 28, 2019 / Updated Aug 21, 2019

This year marks the 50th anniversary of our school’s beginnings at the University of Maryland. What started as a home for would-be architects has morphed over the years to include planners, preservationists, real estate developers, educators, artists, leaders and even a mayor. From our start as the School of Architecture, we grew to become the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. We are immensely proud of the achievements of our alumni, so this anniversary is as much about your accomplishments and path as it is about ours.

Help us tell our story by sharing your work!

We’ll be featuring the work of our alumni during our events and in our publications throughout the year—showing both professional and/or personal achievements. Sharing your work is easy:

1. Achievements are purely subjective, so be creative. They can include professional work, personal milestones or even bucket-list items.

2. Include one sentence explaining your project. Examples might look like this:

  • “Church restoration in Harper’s Ferry, WV.”
  • “Mixed-use development in downtown Rockville that includes a 250-room hotel.”
  • “Neighborhood planning project that connects unemployed workers to jobs in south Baltimore.”
  • “New course developed at University of Ohio teaches students how to map neighborhood equity.”
  • “Architectural rendering of New Orleans’ 9th ward during my vacation.”
  • “My kids—John, Sara and Michael.”
  • “Photograph from the end of the Appalachian Trail, which I completed May 2015.”

3. Include a JPEG or PNG image (must be a minimum of 350KB or 1280 pixels in width) of your project.

4. Include your name, contact e-mail and phone number, along with degree(s) and graduation year(s).
5. E-mail your entry to mappalum@umd.edu by August 15, 2017.

In addition, an alumni exhibition is currently being planned for spring 2018 in the Great Space - more details to come.
