The Jackson Magnolia, a collossal, 200-year-old tree that has been a fixture on the White House grounds for 39 presidents, is in trouble. After early reports of its impending removal, a sizable trimming has kept in intact for another day. HISP alum, historian and author of A Garden for the President Jonathan Pliska joined host Ari Shapiro on NPR's All Things Considered to share the tree's storied history and what its future holds.
