Carl Bovill has been promoted to full professor by the University of Maryland’s Architecture program. Carl has taught materials and methods of construction, sustainability, environmental control systems and technical system integration in design at the University of Maryland for nearly 25 years. Prior to UMD, Carl taught at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He has both a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, and a master's degree in architecture from the University of Hawaii. Carl has authored three publications; his book, Fractal Geometry in Architecture (1996) has been cited over 60 times. His most recent book, Sustainability in Architecture and Urban Design, was released in 2014 by Routledge.
This semester Carl is teaching ARCH 413: Environmental Controls and the ARCH 600/611 Integrated Design Studio.
