Gallery Talk
Monday, April 27, 6:30pm
With the Emerging Green Builders exhibit design crew
Refreshments provided by EGB

"Drawing the Line" is the inaugural exhibition in the Linear Gallery, a new student exhibition space at the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. The University of Maryland Emerging Green Builders (EGB) created this exhibit to start a dialogue about green building practices and our contemporary culture of sustainability.

Linear Gallery vinyl on floor. The exhibit designers will host a gallery talk on Monday, April 27 at 6:30pm, with refreshments provided by EGB.

Through a series of interactive displays, "Drawing the Line" introduces the School community to EGB's projects and research interests. In particular, EGB members have worked in the last year to educate the community about LEED, using LEED as a way to learn the language of sustainable design and as a way to question sustainable design theory and practice.

"Drawing the Line" also showcases LEAFHouse through a series of boards from the Solar Decathlon 2007, as well as images from a new book to be released this spring.

Lastly, and most importantly, this exhibit is dynamic! There are several interactive boards where visitors can post information, make drawings and leave feedback.

Linear Gallery exhibits will be organized by students and will feature student projects and ideas. The gallery will be a shared, interdisciplinary forum for the school. Linear Gallery shows will be organized by an interdisciplinary Exhibitions Committee with representatives from Architecture (graduate and undergraduate), Planning, Preservation and Real Estate Development. If you are interested in serving on this committee and helping to coordinate future student shows, email Christine Arnold.

Admission is free and open to the public. The Linear Gallery is located next to the auditorium, across the hall from the Kibel Gallery. Directions to the School
