BethWorks: Salvation of the Steel or Killer of a Community?

Having dominated the local landscape for well over a century, the great machinery and buildings of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation sit silent, a constant reminder of this once prosperous company. Currently, the highly significant site is being redeveloped using economic revitalization, preservation, and adaptive re-use. Using documentary research and oral interviews of community members and stakeholders, an understanding of community sentiment and regional impact will be derived, the Steel's significance and prominence in the community will be explored the revitalization and preservation plan discussed and factors necessary for the redevelopment's success identified.
