Assessing the National Heritage Initiative

There are three core reasons to conduct research on heritage areas. First, research can capture the initiative's weakness and can be used to strengthen strategies. Second, research can reveal new insights about the initiative's overall impact, which can be positive or negative. Third, research can demonstrate new strengths that can be used as advocacy tools. This paper will examine the two research models currently used in NHA assessment and analyze if these methods are meeting the initiative's research needs.
