2003 - Nevsky Gorodok: Re-Urbanization in St. Petersburg, the Nevsky Town Redevelopment Plan

Urban planning and architecture students from the University of Maryland (UMD) spent four weeks in June and July 2003 studying history, architecture, and urban planning in St. Petersburg, Russia. They worked with Russian architectural students at the St. Petersburg State University School of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbSUACE). Together, the students created a redevelopment plan for a 22-acre industrial site on the edge of the city's historic center. American and Russian students presented their plan and economic analysis to university faculty and city officials in St. Petersburg. Another presentation was given to the community, faculty, and students at the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation in October 2003.
