2004 - Tenleytown: Today and Tomorrow: Revitalizing and Preserving the Commercial Corridor

Tenleytown, one of the oldest communities in Washington, DC, is located in the northwest quadrant of the City. It includes a mid-sized commercial corridor and a sizable neighborhood of predominantly single family detached homes. The stability of the residential portion of the corridor is due in no small part to the dedication and involvement of Tenleytown’s citizens. Over a three-month period, which involved consulting with neighborhood organizations, merchants and other stakeholders, the Studio Team collected information on and analyzed the physical and human assets of Tenleytown’s commercial corridor. This report adds to the body of knowledge concerning the Tenleytown commercial corridor, and provides recommendations for its future development.
