National Trust for Historic Preservation
The internship I completed for Historic Preservation 660 was at the National Trust for Historic Preservation from July 10, 2011 – August 30, 2011. I worked in the Stewardship of Historic Sites Department for Max van Balgooy, the Director of Education and Interpretation. My principal project was editing and expanding entries for the African American Historic Places Database, a collection of over 7000 historic sites of significance to African American heritage, and its expansion into an online interactive map. Another significant project was the documentation of several buildings belonging to the National Trust and the creation of digital CAD drawings for future use. In addition I completed a reorganization of reference material and reports pertaining to the planning and operation of the National Trust Historic Sites.
