The ideal candidate will have experience working with FEMA Public Assistance (PA) and Section 406 PA Hazard Mitigation programs. They will also have held leadership positions, preferably field leadership positions responsible for managing complex processes and small to medium sized teams.
Typical assignments include:
- Supervising and managing staff within the Mitigation Division, Resilience and Infrastructure Branch.
- Leading disaster related mitigation efforts and serving as a senior subject matter specialist to assist in the reduction of event driven damages.
- Coordinating Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) projects using FEMA-approved BCA software and methodologies for potential 406 Mitigation or HMGP projects.
- Serving as a senior mitigation advisor facilitating communication with the Public Assistance branch in both disaster and steady-state operations.
To qualify for this Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist position at the IC-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:
- Leading a team performing duties related to disaster field operations;
- Providing technical support on mitigation policies, regulations, procedures, and methods to internal and external partners; and
- Performing efficiency and effectiveness evaluations of substantive hazard mitigation functions.
