Basheer M.Saeed is a PhD candidate and Human Capacity Development Program (HCDP) Fellow from Iraqi Kurdistan. He specializes in land use and transportation planning, and is currently researching the transformation of metropolitan polycentricity and its impact on travel patterns. As a part of the HCDP fellowship and after completing his PhD program, Basheer will be teaching at the University of Duhok, School of Planning in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Basheer received his M.S. in Regional Development Planning in a joint program at the TU Dortmund University, Germany and the University of the Philippines, Diliman in 2008. He received his bachelor’s degree in Surveying Engineering from the Technical College of Baghdad in his home country. He previously worked as a Surveying Engineer at the Urban Planning Department of Duhok Municipality in Kurdistan. After completing his master’s, he was an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Duhok.
