Bob Kenison (B.A., St. Anselm College, summa cum laude, 1960; LL.B., Harvard, 1963; Mid-Career Fellow, Princeton, 1972; Research Fellow, Yale Divinity School, 1991) was the Associate General Counsel for Assisted Housing and Community Development at the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development until retiring in Spring 2007.  Prior to joining HUD in 1966, upon graduation from law school he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia, South America.  Mr. Kenison is the only HUD official to have received three times the President's Distinguished Rank and  Meritorious Rank Awards, the highest awards for Federal career Senior Executives, in the Reagan, Bush I, and Clinton Administrations (1984, 1990, 2000).  

   He undertook a sabbatical at the Yale Divinity School in 1991 to consider issues of equity in allocating assistance to the poor, ethical responsibilities of governmental officials, and faith-based action as a vehicle for community empowerment.  In 1995 he received the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Memorial Award for demonstrated commitment to providing a decent home and suitable living environment for every American family.  In April 2002 he was detailed to the Inter-American Development Bank in Bogotá where he assisted the Colombian Government in formulating new rental housing policy reforms.

   In addition to a long career of making presentations before legal and other professional associations, Mr. Kenison has guest-lectured recently at Georgetown Law Center, Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies, the National Latino Law Student Association and American University School of Law, and Harvard Law School.
