Christine Henry, PhD Student

Christine Henry received a Bachelor Degree in Art History from the College of William and Mary, and a Masters of Architecture from Catholic University. She spent thirteen years working for the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency that manages grants to museums. With projects ranging in scope from interpretive programming to conservation of collections, she worked with museums of all sizes across the country in the preservation of tangible and intangible history.

She applied her knowledge of historic architecture while acting as the Federal Preservation Officer for the agency, advising constituents on the application of federal historic preservation standards to their projects. While working at IMLS she also received a Masters of Historic Preservation from the University of Maryland.

Ms. Henry is currently serving as the Assistant to the Director of Preservation, acting as community liaison to the 1812 Task Force, managing a grant to create a web site for the historic Bostwick house, and teaching an online historic preservation course for undergraduates.  Her PhD interests include: using historic sites as catalysts for dialogue about the present, museums and their role in community engagement, and the process of historic districts and displacement.
