The Environmental Finance Center (EFC) has recognized the town of Berlin as the first municipality in Maryland to complete its certification through the “Sustainable Maryland Certified” program (SMC). Using tools and strategies provided by the EFC, the Eastern Shore town completed a number of “greening” actions in an effort to provide a better, more sustainable quality of life for its residents. A year into the program, twenty-two other municipalities are now following suit.
