Students and Alums Publish New Research in Leading Journals

Several recent graduates and a student in the Urban and Regional Planning and Design program contribute articles to several leading planning and development journals.

Doan Bao Luu Nguyen, URPD '08,  and Program Director Marie Howland co-authored "The Impact of Immigration on Computer Manufacturing in the 1990s," to be published in a forthcoming issue of Economic Development Quarterly.

Arnab Chakraborty, URPD '07,Professor Gerrit-Jan Knaap, Doan Bao Luu Nguyen and Jung Ho Shin collaborated on a working paper, "The Effects of High Density Zoning on Multifamily Housing Construction in the Suburbs of Six United States Metropolitan Areas," for the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. This paper will be published in the journal Urban Studies.

Vikas Mehta, URPD '06, published two articles in recent months: "Walkable Streets: Pedestrian Behavior, Perceptions and Attitudes" in the Journal of Urbanism, 1 (3), 217-245, 2008; "Look Closely and You Will See, Listen Carefully and You Will Hear: Urban Design and Social Interaction on Streets," Journal of Urban Design, 14 (1), 29-64, 2009.

Elana Messner, CMPL '07, recently published "Cities Without Land Markets:  A Case Study from St. Petersburg, Russia," Real Estate Review , 37 (2), 2008.
