Young Scholars Program
Designed to attract the brightest and best students from this and other regions, Young Scholars is a pre-college program for rising high school juniors and seniors that allows students the opportunity to earn college credit, pursue academic interests, discover career opportunities, and learn about university life.
ARCH 150: Discovering Architecture is a hands-on course designed to provide a design studio experience to assist students in making intelligent decisions about their academic future and a possible study of architecture. Students learn about the discipline of architecture and potential paths to professional careers in architecture, landscape architecture, real estate development, historic preservation, urban design, and urban planning. Students are introduced to local architects, take tours of regional architectural landmarks and are taught basic design principles in the studio that are used to complete weekly design projects throughout the course.
The School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation's Young Scholars Awards are provided by the Dean's Circle Fund.
