Wednesday, May 7, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Architecture Building, 1103
You are invited to attend Architecture in Education, a studio presentation of student designs for a new Amidon Elementary School, a public elementary school in southwest Washington, DC. In this studio taught by Isaac Williams, Assistant Professor of Architecture, the students were asked to design a new Amidon Elementary that interprets in physical and spatial terms emerging best practices in pedagogical research.
The studio has had the privilege of critical commentary from Professor Helene Cohen and her class EDHI 746, "School Restructuring" in pin-ups and discussions of the work of the studio. On May 7, Professor Cohen will join a panel of architects and academics to review the work of the studio and provide perspective as an educator on the student projects. Her students, which include teachers and principals from neighboring schools, will also be in attendance and participate in the discussion.
