Mike Binder – AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Mike Binder is a Registered Architect, with a focus on regenerative design (beyond sustainability).  Before entering the field of Architecture, Mike worked in both high energy physics and space propulsion research (the latter as a NASA contractor).  His enduring passion has been multidisciplinary design, and sustainable architecture and urban planning are the ultimate challenge in ‘systems thinking’ – integrating social, economic and aesthetic considerations with environmental performance.  Mike is a graduate of the Path B M.Arch program at Maryland (2006), and has worked on three Solar Decathlons with the University (as a student, a mentor and a faculty advisor).  He has served on the Maryland faculty as a Lecturer in several disciplines, including design studio, structural technology, and of course eco-effective design
