The School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation is an intimate academic environment committed to developing future leaders in four interdisciplinary fields with a strong foundation in history and the practical integration of technology and design. The School offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Architecture, and graduate degrees and certifications in Urban Studies and Planning, Historic Preservation and Real Estate Development. In addition, the School is home to the Colvin Institute of Real Estate Development and the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education, whose mission is to bring the diverse resources of the University of Maryland and a network of national experts to bear on issues in land development, resource preservation and urban growth -- the nature of our communities, our landscape and our quality of life -- through interdisciplinary research, outreach and education, thereby establishing the University as the national leader in this field.
