Lead in professional education / learning:
- Integrate service learning (real world, actual problems with community clients) into studios and courses.
- Create interdisciplinary courses. Our disciplines are inherently inter-disciplinary. This is the first step to achieve trans-disciplinary education.
Actions:
- Expand global opportunities for students
- Intensify communication skills (verbal, oral and graphic)
Lead in sustainability education (major / minor):
- Create a center piece course on sustainability for all students in the School
- Develop a minor in sustainability for our undergraduates
Enhance research / scholarship / creative activity efforts:
- Showcase faculty achievement
- Institute structured global mentor / mentee relationships
- Improve technology knowledge among faculty
- Travel funds for each faculty. Priority for tenure track junior faculty
- Produce a new and transparent APT policy
Recruit and retain high quality students to all programs:
- Increase Student Scholarships
- Promote paid internships
- Improve admissions process
- Build a greater sense of community
- Improve student job placement services
Contribute to the advancement of the professions by faculty and students:
- Faculty local resource orientation (professional and specific to MAPP)
- Increase diversity of faculty
- Promote faculty scholarly accomplishments to professions
- Increase production of creative activity and scholarly research
Pursue life-long value for alumni and friends:
- Showcase alumni achievements
- Provide multiple venues for alumni to participate with the School
