Notes on Viewing Web-Based Versions of Class PowerPoint Lectures
This site contains web versions of PowerPoint presentations shown in class. You may view and re-view these presentations as often as you like. Clicking on any link will open a new browser window with the presentation. You may wish to resize the new window to fill the screen of your computer. Please note these presentations are best viewed in the most recent version of Internet Explorer. Netscape Navigator will not function well and animations will not work!
The presentations are most readily viewed in a full-screen presentation mode by clicking the button labeled "Slide Show" in the lower right hand corner of the new window. To move through the slide, use the following:
Some of the pages on these presentations have animations that reveal parts of the slide one step at a time, just as they were shown during class. This step-by-step presentation has been preserved wherever possible to emphasize the line of thinking behind each step. It is critically important in the early stages of learning this material that the student not rush past something because it appears either too simple or trivial.
If viewing the presentation in window-mode (as it initially opens, i.e. not in slide show mode), then only limited functionality is provided for control of the step-by-step animations. In this mode, however, you will see a menu to the left allowing you to chose any slide to view, plus icons at the bottom "<<" and ">>" allowing you to move forward or backward through the presentation pages. The left-hand outline menu may be opened or closed by clicking on the "Outline" button on the bottom left of the window.
